When this doe was born here in 2012 I was beside myself excited. She was so stunning. Little did I really know how wonderful she would grow up in both personality and type. She is my perfect Mini-LaMancha. She's what I have always strived my does to be. She is awesome. She milks like a dream and is very productive, she is put together so beautifully and she has the sweetest personality too. A full package.
I decided to sell out of dairy goats later in the year after Elise was born in order to pursue a dream of having horses. I have often regretted it and got back into goats in 2014. I contacted her current owner at the time about kids from her but she hadn't bred her. She offered her back to me and I jumped at the opportunity to get her back. I freshened Elise in 2015 as a first freshening 3 year old and she was fantastic. I knew I had a gem then. I freshened her a total of 5 times before I decided to sell out again. I was burned out and needed a break from farm life. Now after a few years without farming I've finally realized it's what I'm supposed to do and I can't get back to farming fast enough. I got Elise back again and now she'll stay here for the rest of her life. She's 12 years old now. I don't know if I'd ever allow her to breed again or not. I have two granddaughters of her's here now. Check out Star (Starbucks) and Bella.

Elise's Milk Record
2017 Barn Records
Unofficial as of 5-1-17
Third Freshening - did not start milking till a little over a week fresh and did not begin
recording weights until I'd been milking her 2 weeks.
Once a Day milking since last record. Drying her off from this point on. 78 371# - - Peak, which she did a few times throughout with just pelleted goat feed and alfalfa pellets during the whole lactation. Next year I'll make up a good milking ration. ~ 5.9# - - I had planned to go on milk test in 2017, but with the stresses of kidding season, milking and bottle raising (when we didn't set-out to do that initially) and the new barn work having to be finished to get the herd moved into, testing just didn't happen. I need the milk machine in order to stay on test the length of time required too and currently I'm still hand milking. So the plan is to get the room done in the new barn for milking, get the milk machine up and running and the goats acclimated to it this year and then 2018 go on official milk test through both MDGA & TMGR. In the meantime, like in previous years, I keep detailed milk charts for each goat and I weigh milk each milking. I will continue to do that and record it on each doe's page and next year work towards official records and milk stars!
