About Us

Welcome to Sweet Gum Minis! My name is Ashley Capps and I am the owner/breeder here. My family is my husband Steve, daughter Hannah and son Matthew. I started raising dairy goats in 2005 when we determined we needed help with brush and kudzu. Little did I know what an adventure that would become and how far we'd grow in the goat world. I raised Nigerian Dwarfs with some Mini-LaManchas until selling out in 2012. I wanted to pursue a dream of horses and did. I learned that my dream of horses and reality weren't quite the same thing and I missed goats. So I got back into goats by acquiring some of the Nigerians I'd bred and Mini-LaManchas. I decided to focus on Mini-LaManchas and raised them for a few years until deciding to sell out again. Now in 2024 the absence of a few years made me really miss the farm life and brush has started to take over again so we brought one homebred back home with two granddaughters and a Nigerian Dwarf. I am not 100% sure yet what my plan is but we are thrilled to have goats again and look forward to goat-adventures soon.
