This beautiful
doeling is Slippers. She is a first generation Mini-Lamancha and is 1/4
Lamancha and 3/4 Nigerian Dwarf. Slippers is a super sweet little bottle
baby and she steals the heart of everyone who meets her. She has a
lovely escutcheon as you can see below. She is incredibly fuzzy so I am
anxious to get her clipped so I can see what's hidden beneath. Slippers
dam (also pictured below) is a lovely very dairy doe. She is a first
generation Mini-Lamancha as well 50/50 and her dam is the lovely
Listening-Eagle Lydia and her sire is Dancing Goat Farms Tibet.
Slippers' sire is 5 Cedars Footloose. Her maternal and paternal
granddams are pictured below as well. Lots of lovely dairy animals
behind her and we are thrilled to have her as part of our Mini-Mancha
herd. Can't wait to see her clipped and of course her udder!
Slippers is 25% Lamancha but she is remaining small for
a Mini-Mancha. However, she's right on track with all my junior
Nigerians so I feel she can still be bred this Fall/Winter for babies in
2011. We plan to wait till the end of the year, maybe the beginning of
next year to breed her, but instead of being bred to a Mini-Mancha buck,
she will be bred to a Nigerian. The kids will only be 12.5% Lamancha,
but still be useful in Mini programs and still be nice kids. Next year
Slippers maybe ready to breed to a Mini buck. Our two mini bucks are
Mickey (50% Lamancha) who is really big and I just don't feel
comfortable breeding her to him this year. The other is Suede who, just
like Slippers is 25% Lamancha. He isn't far behind Mickey in size. So
they're just a little bit big for Slippers. I believe she'll be bred to
Ericson who is a powerhouse type Nigerian Dwarf buck, who is very dairy
and has great width throughout. He should compliment Slippers very well. |
