This flashy buck kid, Jumper, is our first Lamancha buck! I had no intention
of getting a full size buck at all previously and this year I was figuring I'd
put in an order for one next Spring. However when this handsome fellow
was mentioned to me after I'd discovered his dam and asked about her, I
couldn't refuse. What a looker and what a pedigree! What drew me to his
dam was the fact that she milked 19 pounds at peak as a 3 year old! Yes
that's right! Wow is all you can say about that! She's a beautiful doe
who milks like the dairy goat she is averaging nearly 14 pounds on milk
test over the course of her lactation! Look at the beautiful udder she
sports below. To top all that off, she was on the Top Ten list for 2009
as #3 for protein and #4 for overall milk production! He is a gold mine
of genetics I believe and I am thrilled to be able to use such a
wonderful buck with my Lamancha does this year.
His sire's sire
was the 2010 ADGA Nationals premier sire! He has produced numerous
gorgeous productive uddered daughters. His daughter,
CH Autumn-Acres Miss Maple Sugar was
the 2010 ADGA Nationals Grand Champion Senior Lamancha Doe! Spartan
himself was out of
SGCH Kastdemur's Slice 3*M which was
the 2005 ADGA Nationals Grand Champion Senior Lamancha Doe & Best Udder!
Take a look at his linked pedigree below. The links take you to sites
where you can see photos of each of the goats.
I decided to call
this guy Jump-Start (Jumper for short) because we are following the
J theme in his dam's lines. The 'Just' part is for his sire. We're jump-starting our Lamancha program
with this excellent buck, infusing a lot of milk production and
excellent attached udders with show-winning confirmation as well, so
he's helping us to jump-start our Lamancha program in a fantastic way so
why not name him so!
*We will probably be selling Jumper this year. I want
to focus on the Mini-Mancha program. I just don't think we'll continue
raising pure LaManchas. I will retain and keep some LaMancha does for
the mini program but I won't have a need for a buck. That being said,
the reason I'm not selling him yet is just to wait and see if I get some
daughters to retain. If I don't, he'll stay and breed some girls in the
Fall and then be available. If he does give me girls out of Pumpkin and
Sashay then he'll be available later this Spring. |
